Sand painting is a kind of art for making
paintings for religious and ritual purposes. Initially, sand
painting as an art was undertaken by indigenous American people
but now
it has become a sought of fashion. Sand painting is done

a sought of fashion and is brought into use on carnival and
festival occasions.
The sand paintings of Navajo are the most famous in the world
because of their exquisiteness and exclusiveness. Navajo is

These sand paintings are made for different occasions. Different
colors are used for making a sand painting, for instance,
for preparing colors for a sand painting physically colored
sand, compressed white gypsum, yellow orange, red granite,
charcoal; made from burnt wood and a assortment of burnt wood
and gypsum that produces blue color. Some of the colors are obtained with the help of pallor agents such
as callus repast, flower pollen of a blossoming flower and
roots and bark in a powdered or crushed form.
Sand paintings from Tibet are created from mandalas
(a Tibetan term) made from crushed powders of multiple
colors.
Here, special emphasis is given on designs that are
first practiced roughly.
For this purpose, a large size horizontal table is
used on which the required sand is evenly placed, after
this step designs is crafted onto the sand.
In some parts of the world sand paintings of geometrical
shapes, ancient motifs, famous celebrities and gods
and goddesses are painted.
