Fabric paintings are the simplest form of the world of painting. First of all let us understand the meaning of the term fabric. Fabric is a type of cloth or a material that is used for painting a design or an image.

A fabric can be of any type, say cotton, silk, jute, linen, chiffon, denim or nylon, etc. Block painting and Batik painting are also an integral part of fabric paintings.

Batik Fabric Paintings involves the use of polish and color to produce some stunning designs on the fabric. For the beginners in painting, fabric painting is the most appropriate one.  It is also an inexpensive way of nourishing your artistic creativity.

Endless numbers of designs can be made on a simple shirts or tops with fabric painting which will give them a trendier look. For instance, the art of fabric painting can also be applied on many things, such as, bed sheet, pillow covers, curtains, wall hanging, sofa cover, denim jeans, etc.

But, before starting out fabric paintings, certain things need to be kept in mind. According, to experts on fabric paintings, a cotton fabric is the top bet but the thing that needs to be looked upon is the degree of stiffness of the fabric chosen.

A loosely stretched fabric must never be selected for fabric painting as it might not produce the desired color effect.

If there are any rumples on the fabric, iron the cloth a bit hard because they can create mess with your design.

After the application of fabric painting, ironing of the whole painted fabric must be done so as to bond the color paint with the fabric. Always make a model of your design on a rough piece before actually making it on the fabric. Try to damp the fabric with small amount of water so that colors could blend together with each other suitably.
